DPR assist in securing unanimous planning approval for 22-storey student accommodation in Bristol

DPR is delighted to announce that the Planning Committee has unanimously approved our proposals for a 22-storey, purpose-built student accommodation scheme in the Temple Quarter of Bristol. This significant milestone marks a key step forward for the £150 million project, designed by Corstorphine & Wright, which will deliver 530 high-quality student beds.

The reception from Councillors was overwhelmingly positive, with the scheme receiving significant praise and even a round of applause. This endorsement reflects the careful consideration given to the project’s design, which prioritises not only the needs of students but also the enhancement of the local community and the public realm.

Key features of the development include:

  • A vibrant ground floor: Incorporating commercial space to enliven the street and contribute to the local economy.
  • Improved public realm: Delivering a new pedestrian and cyclist link to the river walkway, a crucial component of the Bristol Avon Flood Strategy, and the creation of a new boulevard on Albert Road, enhancing connectivity and public space.
  • Sustainable design: A strong focus on daylight and sunlight, achieved through close collaboration with the architects, ensuring a healthy and comfortable living environment for residents.

This project exemplifies DPR’s commitment to helping deliver high-quality, sustainable developments that contribute positively to the urban fabric. We are excited to see this project come to life and continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of Bristol.
