The High Hedges legislation in the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 is increasingly being used by local authorities to regulate disputes over hedges blocking light to houses and gardens. This requires a formal application to the relevant local authority supported by appropriate hedge height calculations. Delva Patman Redler are well placed to advise on this issue, with Alistair Redler having been RICS spokesman when the legislation was being drafted.  He was also consulted by the Building Research Establishment during their development of the technical guidance for calculating hedge height.
