High Hedges

The High Hedges legislation in the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 is increasingly being used by local authorities to regulate disputes over hedges blocking light to houses and gardens.  This requires a formal application to the relevant local authoirity supported by appropriate hedge height calculations.  Alistair Redler is well placed to advise on this issue, having been RICS spokesman when the legislation was being drafted, and having been consulted on the draft legislation and also by the Building Research Establishment when they were developing the technical guidance for calculating hedge height.
