Planning Approved: Skipton House, London

We are delighted to announce that full planning permission has been granted for the comprehensive redevelopment of Skipton House in London. The application was approved unanimously at the planning committee last week, marking a significant milestone for this landmark project.

Designed by HTA Design LLP, the consented scheme will transform the site to deliver a vibrant, mixed-use development including:

• 1,434 Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) units
• 243 new affordable homes (Class C3)
• Flexible Class E floorspace across ground, first and second floor levels, supporting a mix of retail, commercial, and community uses
• Extensive public realm improvements, including hard and soft landscaping, new pedestrian and vehicle access routes, enhanced cycle parking, and associated highway works

This significant development will provide a meaningful contribution to Southwark’s housing needs, addressing both the critical shortage of affordable homes and the growing demand for high-quality student accommodation. The scheme will also introduce new public spaces, connectivity improvements, and local amenities, helping to regenerate the wider area and create a more inclusive and accessible neighbourhood.

Our work ensured that the scheme met the necessary technical standards while balancing the ambitions of a dense, urban redevelopment.
