Planning approval secured for Albert Bridge House, Manchester

We’re delighted to share that Oval Real Estate’s transformative proposals for Albert Bridge House have now received planning approval — marking a major milestone for this pivotal site on the Manchester–Salford boundary.

DPR are proud to have provided specialist Daylight & Sunlight consultancy for the project, working alongside Studio Egret West to help deliver a scheme that prioritises environmental quality, wellbeing, and urban resilience.

The development reimagines a previously closed-off riverside plot into a connected, mixed-use neighbourhood featuring:

• 5,780 sqm of new public realm – including a biodiverse riverside walk and a central urban arboretum that celebrates mature trees and introduces new planting.
• Two octagonal residential towers (49 and 37 storeys) with dual-aspect apartments optimised for daylight, ventilation, and panoramic views.
• An 18-storey commercial building designed with flexibility and future-proofing in mind, supporting Manchester’s Net Zero Carbon 2038 target.

The refreshed 2025 vision builds on the earlier 2023 consent — responding to changing market conditions with a design that enhances sustainability, liveability, and urban identity.
